April Fool's Day

While some didn't appreciate it and that's understandable given the content, I acknowledge Derek's April Fool's Day post that made light of the fake news we seem to be surrounded by these days. Hopefully it's a reminder not to take things too seriously. That being said, I think the context will be lost if I let it stand beyond today. Aka I have to take it seriously. I gave it the work day to have its time in the proverbial sun, and now that sun has set. Thanks, everyone.

On a related note, those who know Rick's history well enough may recall that he once published a book with the David on the cover. There were people who - let's just say - did not appreciate that. To avoid reprinting all the books, and to assuage booksellers that might otherwise remove it from their shelves, RS staff added a strategic fig leaf to the front of each book.

I realize that sharing this may lead to a discussion around the merits of nudity in art. Let's not go there as I've moderated enough (spam) today. Instead, let's appreciate art and a bit of levity on this April Fool's Day.

Ciao!

Gee, and I just watched "Rick Steves: Art of Europe, The Renaissance" last night on my local PBS station. Dave was featured rather prominently in that episode.

Thanks, Webmaster. I saw the post, and it made me laugh. I'm sorry I didn't show it to my husband before you took it down.

I did wonder, though, how it would fare after April 1.

Our local area ballet company is advertising (one day only!) that they are commissioning a new ballet, "Taylor and the Tight End," opening performance to be held April 1, 2025. Lol.

Sorry to see it go, it was a funny April Fools Day gift. But thanks for the article link, Allan. Very interesting. Nothing new under the sun, eh?
