App For Itinerary Planning?

Hello everyone

I’m heading to France for a RS tour, but will first spend 3.5 days in Paris on my own. It’s my first time in Paris, and I want to see some main sites, but not run myself ragged doing so.

Is there an app out there that I can plug in all the places I really want to visit over the course of 3 days, and have it spit out a suggested itinerary grouping sites together based on location (primarily) and time so that I’m exploring as efficiently as possible, but with the flexibility to add in downtime to smell the roses and people watch.

Thanks!!

I have used the Visit a City app in Berlin, Prague, London and San Francisco and like it a lot. It will do what you are asking plus you can tweak their suggestions. For example they allow standard amounts of time for each attraction, but you can adjust if you want to spend more or less time in a place. It also gives directions to get from one attraction to the next, either walking or using public transportation.

Eleanor,

With a good guidebook in hand (preferably a RS book), that should be fairly easy to do on your own. The book will provide information not only on the various sights, hours of operation and ticket prices, but also also transportation to get between each one. Some museums are closed one day a week, and it's helpful to know which day that is. Unless an app is updated on a regular basis, not all of the information may be current.

You might consider starting with one or two sights on the first day and working up to more at the end. You may be jet lagged at the beginning so won't be up to full touring speed.

One other thought is that you could post the places you want to visit here on the forum, and the helpful group here can offer suggestions.

I just like using my CityMaps2Go app (and there are other similar). I can 'pin' all the places I want to see on the map (Paris is actually pretty detailed - down to the shapes of the buildings!) and then I just look at it and see what sights are near to each other and plan my day accordingly. It's great as I tend to pin a lot of bakeries as well that I want to try and visit if I'm in the area, or shops I've heard about that I want to visit.
