Has anyone rented an apartment in Paris? How did you find the apartment? Do you think it was cheaper than a hotel? thanks, Jennie
We rented through company based in New Jersey called vacationinparis.com We paid in dollars. We found the studio apartment to be a better value than a hotel, plus we saved money on meals because we had a kitchenette. Both the apartment and the studio were small compared to American standards. We stayed in the 2eme arrondisement which was conveniently located about 15-20 minute walk to the Marais or the Louvre. Loved Rue Montorgueil. This is not a tourist area, but I know a little French although I really didn't need to use it much. Apartment rentals usually require a minimum stay. Check to be sure that the cleaning fees are included in the price.
I rented two apartments, a week each, in April 2009. I could have stayed in a budget hotel (single) for less. It was convenient to have a refrigerator and microwave oven. I made my own coffee. So, for eating, you can save money renting an apartment.
Just rented a one bedroom in Paris from Vacation in Paris. Having your own apartment is an awesome experience. We felt like part of the neigborhood. We stayed in the 7th with Rue Cler only 1/2 block away. Eiffel Tower was 7 min. walk.
We've been renting flats all over Europe for the last 15 years. If you are planning to stay more than 5 days in a single location it is often cheaper than a comparable hotel. Being able to grocery shop and eat a few meals at the apartment goes a long way in helping save money plus you really get to know the area. A washing machine is also very handy You won't have a maid service or concierge type of service but I never really cared about those types of service.
I rented an itty bitty garrett apartment in Paris last year through VRBO.com. I literally just went through the Paris listings until one caught my eye. It was only 300 Euro for the week, so much cheaper than a hotel. Plus I had a fridge/freezer, burner, and microwave at my disposal, which saved on food costs.
we rented an apartment in paris this past summer through vrbo. it was GREAT. cheaper than a hotel ($1200 USD for 14 nights), large, clean, full kitchen-it felt like living in paris (ok, well it WAS living in paris, but only for two weeks!)
