Anyone taken Ricks best of Turkey?

We booked the tour and are really having a time deciding how to end the trip. I know that the tour bus will take us to Izmir airport early the last day so we can catch flight back to Istanbul and then to the US. I cannot find any flights to Istanbul until near 3pm. We really don't want to be sitting in an airport for near 7 hours. Wondering if anyone can tell us about their experiences for this tour ending . Any alternatives? TIA

Pat - Not sure if you are still looking for flights on the date you mentioned in your note last week, but other than waiting for the Pegasus 3pm flight, there is a 2pm flight on atlasjet and a very expensive Turkish Air flight at 11am.

You also might want to check with SRM Travel in Turkey. ETBD works with them for all the Turkey tours. Their website is www.srmtravel.com - there is a link from the 'plan your trip' section of this website as well. They have older information regarding the end of Rick's tour on their website (link on bottom right corner) but you could contact them for more help.

The Turkey tour was very popular last year per the attendance at the alumni tour reunion. I suggest you contact ETBD directly (email or phone call) and ask the experts for suggestions. You won't alone --- your fellow tour members will be planning too.

Thank you I'll check out the SMR link. I did call the tour office and they tell me the Turkish Airways flight is the best option. Very expensive for a 1 hour flight. I'm not going to jump on that yet. Maybe some sales later. Thanks all for your help.

Pat, have you already bought a ticket to fly home from Istanbul?

No. We're trying to spend a few days in London first . BA has some decent prices right now. Just try to work out the last portion.

The reason that I asked was that someone asked about the end of the tour the other week and someone replied about other cities in Europe that you could get to easily from Izmir. I was going to point you there, but I now see that you were the original poster of that question ... so clearly you already know about that option. Sorry.

I took this tour many years ago and took the ferry to Samos where I stayed a couple of days before making my way to Athens to fly home.
