Anyone flown Swiss Air?

We are looking at changing the dates of our trip from May to June. Since we are using United miles, flight options are slim for the dates we are looking at. One option is Swiss Air from LAX to Zurich. The plane is a 777. Does anyone know if extra leg room economy seats are available for purchase on Swiss Air? I've looked on Seat guru and Swiss air's site and can't find anything that says certain rows have extra legroom (like United Economy Plus)

For an overview on equipment:

Airline Overview Swiss International Air Lines (LX) is the country's
flag carrier. It was founded in 2002 after Swissair declared
bankruptcy and is a subsidiary of Lufthansa. The carrier has a hub at
Zurich Airport (ZRH) and has named Geneva Airport (GVA) as a focus
city. Swiss flies to more than 104 destinations in 48 countries in
Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, North America and South
America. A member of the Star Alliance, it also has codeshare
agreements with 23 other alliance and non-alliance airlines. The
carrier has a fleet of 65 Airbus aircraft that feature two-cabin
(Business Class and Economy Class) and three-cabin (First Class,
Business Class and Economy Class) configurations.

If/when you know flight numbers you can check for specific aircraft configurations.

Swiss also shows they have 10 seats across in economy, instead of the 9 across on United.

Yes, the seating in Economy is 3-4-3. Those 10 Extra Leg Room seats are the front row of an economy section---there is no Row 39 in the center section, so it is Row 40 there. They are clearly indicated on the seat map, and probably something you have to pay extra for. Can you look at the seating chart for the flight you are considering to see if any are available, or can you see it only after booking?

Interesting comparison of SeatGaru's 777 economy seating (inch unit):

Swiss 777-300ER::

Economy : 32 pitch x 17.3 width

United 777-200 V2:
Economy Plus : 35 pitch x 18.3 width with 6.0 recline
Economy: 31 pitch x 18.3 width with 5.0 recline

Long legged folks are better off in Swiss Economy or especially United Economy Plus;
Wide folks are better off in United Economy than Swiss Economy if SeatGaru's numbers are correct.

Do realize that the rows with the "extra leg room" because of no seat in front of you are a bit narrower due to the food tray and entertainment system built in to the arm rests.

Seat width may be a thing of the past if Airbus succeeds with their patented bench seat:

http://www.businessinsider.com/airbus-patent-bench-seat-revolutionize-airline-ticket-sales-2016-2

With the federal standard for the width of airplane seats is still
based on measurements taken in 1962, many fliers struggle to
comfortably fit into airplane seats.

Now Airbus has come up with a potential solution to this problem.

Earlier this month, the United States Patent and Trademark Office
published a patent application from Airbus' Sven Taubert and Florian
Schmidt for a "reconfigurable passenger bench seat."

So one would book that bench seat by the inch? Wider people pay more?

Karen, what did you decide on Swiss Air?

The Swiss air flight disappeared before I had a chance to book. But thanks for the responses.

Can you imagine sitting on a bench seat on a long haul flight? OMG!

I'm imagining it more like a couch than a bench.
