Anyone checked out the Audio Europe App?

Has anyone checked out the RS Audio Europe App? Haven't dug to deep, yet. But, it seems like a pretty useful resource...

Linda, I looked at the new App. briefly tonight, but it appears that it only functions with software versions 4.0+. My iPod Touch (first gen.) is currently at Software version 3.1.3, so it appears the App. will be completely useless for me (at least at the present time). I'll be looking at the iPhone 5 when it's released later this year (hopefully) and will look at the App. again at that time. Cheers!

I love it, and can't wait to use it in Italy. The walking tours (I've been listening to them at work) are a great improvement over the old podcasts. Each is divided into tracks, so you can easily skip around if they moved the Venus de Milo, or if you get lost. (Both happened to me while listening to the podcast several years ago.) You need to be connected to WIFI to download new tracks and access some features, but once you have downloaded tracks, you can listen any time. I just discovered that you can view the maps in iBooks, so they can be added to your iBooks library and viewed any time. I do have the newest version of the Touch. I have heard that there can be some issues, especially with the maps. There have been several updates recently, so the issues may be fixed.

Wow, how do you get two fast replies to the same question I asked a couple days ago? ; ) Ah, well. I too think it has the potential to be very useful. The fact that you can use them offline makes all the difference. Pam

I have also been listening to the tours on my walks and my husband on his subway rides and we love them. I like listening to the radio podcasts as well and like how things are categorized on the App. All in all, it is a useful resource. Too bad we aren't going to Europe any time soon in order to be able to use them.

IMHO it is great. Yesterday while walking my dog I was in the Roman Forum and the Colliseum. We used the old podcasts in the past and they were nice but easy to get lost on. With the pictures on the touch screen showing you exactly what to look at and where to go that helps. I also love the 20 second rewind feature. It is great for a point missed or one you want to listen to again. I think Rick is really on to something here and with future improvements this will be awesome. In the past we have hired guides for certain areas/museums. I see this filling that void. Another great thing is that you can cover them at your own pace. I am thoroughly impressed so far.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the "Go Back 20 Secs" and the "2x" (aka "listenable fast-forward")!!! I've already used both several times! I really wish audio guides in museums had "2x"...Some of them assume I'm planning my entire day for just their museum LOL! So, now I have a few audio guides with Rick! And he's OK with me speeding him up sometimes. I have a DVD player that allows me to play a DVD at 2x the speed; you can still understand what's being said, but it just speeds things up a bit...Sometimes you need to finish up and get to that appointment or whatever.
