Any recommendations and share your experiences with luggage storage services?

Please recommend the luggage storage services and share any experiences with luggage storage services.

My requirement of luggage storage is safety, security and reasonable price. Importantly of all, can the luggage storage service accept any sizes of luggage? Security is keys or electronic lock...etc?

I intend to store my luggage at either Victoria or Paddington station and the rest of England and Belgium and Paris. Thanks.

We used luggage lockers in Norway after the luggage storage service turned out to not exist. We had reserved and paid but the place did not exist and the nearby store said many people have been scammed by it. The lockers we used were at the train station.

You won’t find lockers at Paddington or Victoria or (most) UK train stations (I recall they have them at Inverness). I use the Excess Baggage Company at London termini.

If you are thinking of doing this in Paris, at which station? Gare de Lyon, Gare du Nord, etc.

Keep in mind that the left luggage facility in Gare de Lyon is " cash only." I saw that in 2023, when exploring that large station, maybe it still is. , I don't know.

Thanks for these replies.

Trelawney, Inverness is in Scotland, correct?
May i clarify that lockers are different from luggage storage at the stations, you mean?

mikliz97, may i know how much do the lockers cost at Norway?

Looks like not many people use the luggage storage services at Paddington/Victoria?

Scotrail only have luggage storage at two locations - Inverness and Glasgow Queen Street. At both they use lockers, but then the facilities are not permanently manned.
Anywhere else in the UK where a station has luggage storage it is kept on shelves in a room. But then such facilities have multiple staff on duty who have been vetted and the facilities are festooned with CCTV. It would be incredibly difficult to meddle with deposited luggage.
Also everything is scanned for explosives, and other dangerous contents, much as at an airport
That is a legacy of terrorism.

This forum is a possibly unrepresentative sub set of travellers.
I personally would take a very deep breath before leaving luggage at one of these app based companies. Luggage isn't scanned, I have no idea of the integrity of the employees, and no real idea how secure the storage is.
I don't want to be pulled in by the Security services later for having drugs or explosives for instance which have been planted in my luggage by some dishonest person.

isn31c, you really sent me a heart attack when reading your comment. Anyway, thanks for alerting me.
Looks like Rick and you seem to trust Left Luggage service more. Thanks for helping me to decide to choose Left Luggage service instead of Stasher. Appreciate it a lot.

isn31c, sorry to ask you again for clarifications. Because something else came to my mind.

Stasher uses different locations like hotels such as Premier Inn Hotel...etc.

It says that they are willing to keep the luggage in the private room. I think it is no different from keeping our luggage in the hotel after the check out.

Anyone else, any experience with Stasher luggage storage service?

I’m sorry, I don’t remember what we paid but I do remember it was very inexpensive.

I used a Radical Storage location in Portsmouth, UK a couple of months ago. The cost was £5 per day per bag plus an additional amount for mandatory "insurance". The extra fee was between £1 and £2 per bag per day.

The way Radical Storage operates is that you book and pay in advance without knowing the exact character of the storage location. My storage location turned out to be a vape shop that had a strong odor of scented vapes. I was worried about what the clothes in my suitcase would smell like after being stored for quite a few hours in that environment, but there was no problem.

I've never really worried about the security of stored luggage. I don't travel with valuable items except my phone, which I keep with me. I try to remember to transfer my bottle of prescription medicine to my purse if I'm going to be storing my luggage somewhere, but I often forget to do that. Neither my travel clothes nor my luggage suggest that it would be worth the risk of stealing or rifling through my suitcase or tote bag. I do keep a cheap lock on my suitcase.

I'd prefer to use a locker, since I'd probably be able to fit my suitcase and tote bag in a single locker, which would likely be cheaper than the storage fee for two bags.

BTW is was a Radical Storage location that did not exist so we had to use the train station. The nearby businesses told us many people came up that address for storage but it dud not exist and never had. We had reserved and prepaid. Lesson learned for us.

Thanks for your sharing of your experiences. Noted with thanks and appreciation. I find it a bit scary. OK, it helps me a lot in my decision which luggage storage service is safe.

Interesting observation - Radical storage service steps is to make booking first and then provide the address. Different price for different places that the client choose to store luggage.
Radical Storage's partners are Accor Hotels and InterCity but some seem not familiar to me.

Stasher will share the address after booking and making the payment. Any shop/hotel near the destination the client have chosen.

Booking.com, Premier hotel, eurail, expedia seem to be partner with Stasher luggage service. https://stasher.com/
Scroll down to watch that video. It seems that Premier Hotel is Stasher's partner.

Luggage seem to be stored in the open with CCTV on for 24 hours.

We decided last minute to use a storage service....I believe it was in Paris. we were headed to Strasbourg & didn't need all the hassle. Did the app, walked to the hotel & scanned in. Took the baggage to the room that was open wood shelves. I put my bag on & felt apprehensive. Left & talked w/my wife. I really felt like someone could access the room w a bag & remove any other bag(s) in the room. The attendant could not see the room & if someone took some bags out they could avoid the entrance. I ended up taking the bag with us to Strasbourg

I used Stasher in Edinburgh last week. I didn't book in advance because I wasn't sure I would need it (my flight arrived an hour early so I did) but I had scoped out bag drop options beforehand. So I went to the location I had saved on Google Maps (Premier Inn on York Place) and when I got there, I booked on my phone and it told me it would tell me the address when my booking was complete. They really want you to download the Stasher App. The confirmation said "download the app for your confirmation" and then in small print underneath it said something like "or check your email for your confirmation."

The bag drop room was right off the lobby, very near the check in desk. An employee was in the room putting up bags when I dropped mine. When I returned to pick up, the room was closed and locked. An employee saw me waiting and retrieved my bags for me.

I thought it was rather pricey for the 2.5 hours my bags (one backback and a small roller bag) were there - 17 pounds something.

The only other time I've paid for a bag drop was in Rome near Termini station, and it was a small unmanned storefront where you booked and paid for a locker, then unlocked/locked it with a bar code.

I’m in Annecy, France. We arrived on Monday and used lockers at an unstaffed place to store our bags until we could check in. First thing to note, once must have a smart phone. A QR code gets scanned and then you register with your name and phone number. Possibly your email address too. I can’t remember 3 days ago. Lol! Using a code they sent us we were able to enter the facility and store our bags. So far, so good. When we returned to pick up the bags we were able to open one locker. The other wouldn’t open and the screen said we didn’t have a second locker. I called the phone number posted on the wall and spoke to a man that eventually opened the locker remotely. Stuff happens and it all worked out fine.
