I need to store my luggage while I go to some galleries for the day before heading to Heathrow at 8.30pm. I'm checking out of a hotel outside of London and will travel to London for the day before flying out. Any ideas?
All of the train stations in central London have luggage hold counters, including Paddington where the Heathrow Express departs from.
thank you
Try to get your stuff in as few bags as possible. Left luggage places seem to charge by the day, not the hour, and at 8.50 GBP per item it can really add up. I used the Excess Baggage Storage facility in Glasgow (same company that's at Paddington, I believe) and ended up paying more than $50 just to spend five or six hours there.
One option would be to go straight to Heathrow, check your bag with the airline and then take the train into London. Might be a bit out of the way depending on what direction you are coming into London from. And what transportation options you have from the hotel. But some hotels have free shuttles to airports and nowhere else.
There is an Excess Baggage on Earls Court Rd near the Earls Ct tube station near South Kensington.
Left luggage at Victoria Coach Station is a bit cheaper than the rail stations, but no bargain if it is out of your way. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/1216.aspx#
