After our Rick Steve's Family Europe tour, we are going to Edinburgh, and found some tours on-line sponsored by viator.com. Since we won't have a car, this seemed like a good way to see the country. Has anyone taken a tour with them? We are thinking of a 3-day/2 night tour to the Isle of Skye. Any feedback people might have would be appreciated!
I can't help you with the actual tours, but just keep in mind Viator.com is just a consolidator like Expedia does with flights, so if you want real feedback on particular tours, you should ask about/research the actual tours because people's experiences will depend based on who gives the tour. With Viator you just book it and print a voucher and show it to the tour company :)
I once booked a Viator tour in NYC, paid online, printed out my voucher myself, showed it to the tour guide outside the bus and everything just worked out fine. It was a tour where we visited the actual outside filming locations of famous TV shows (like the Huxtable's house, the apartment from Friends and many other places) and the tour guide who was student in some acting class was very knowledgable and entertaining and I felt it was money very well spent.
I used viator to book a day trip to Assisi it was just fine I met some cool people and had no problems. The driver and guide were professional. I even forgot to confirm and they still picked me up at my hotel. I even used them for my shuttle from the airport. They are a 3rd party booking site. I even had to cancle a tour and had no problems they do keep 10% though. Hope that helps.
