Horsewoofie, thank you ....I just would not have thought to check BBB for travel insurance (since we have always had good experience with our long-time provider (which may wind up being who we stick with...homework to do), but obviously a very, very good idea to read those reviews...eye opening. Interesting the frustrating problems posted.
Sam, yep, that would be my guess, too, and probably not unusual. My key concern would be payment on claims IF there is a problem. We used to travel A LOT, and TravelGuard was excellent on two claims we filed (and also excellent in "rescuing" us when a small ship company had issues and stopped a trip mid-operation....we flew home instantly from the port, while others endured an over 10 hour bus trip with issues along the way.
This is one of those jet trips, once-in-a-lifetime things, the grand "ta da" for us, so I need a really good, solid policy and a really good company, as well as excellent med evac, just in case. Cleared a waitlist and we figure "if not now, when?" So fast-forward on this end, but doing serious homework on best policy. My sister has given me some excellent resources to check (and I know the web sites recommended on this forum, like insuremytrip....so will get busy here. I was also encouraged when I read on another post about USAA offering trip insurance, but when I checked, I saw the $ levels are not high enough for this circumstance.
Again, many thanks.
