My husband and I are looking to go to Antibes in April 2010. I wanted to make sure this isnt too Touristy of a place. I want some local flavor. Is Antibes worth our visit? Thanks for your help
Erica
Erica, we stayed in Juan les Pins (very close to Antibes). I think that the Côte d'Azur in general is touristy, but in April it will be much better. There is lots of fun things to see and do, there is a nice market in Antibes, and the Picasso museum, we also took the train to Nice. We took a train to Biot to see the glass blowing shops and we did a did trip to Grasse the perfume capital. I think it is worth a visit, hope this helps!
Thanks for your helpful reply.
Have a good day!

We were in Antibes in April and it was quite pleasant. There is a small crescent beach on the Cap an there were quite a few people there.
On big caveat------check the date of Easter next year. This is a big holiday time for lots of Europeans and the chilren have weeks off!!!And they all want to go to somewhere warm. It was not hot though but pleasant enough to wear tee shirts and capris.
All of the Cote d'Azur is a tourist mecca so it gets lots of visitors. But as long as you avoid summer, it shoul be OK. However, on the same trip, we went to Monaco ana it was jammed around the Palace.
Have a lovely trip...lots to see in the general area.
Our family absolutely loves Antibes as a base for exploring this region. You are close to everything but away from the big cities like Nice and Cannes (ok for day visits). In Antibes the old town is nice to explore and don't miss the hike around Cap d'Antibes (if you do this it takes at least a couple of hours). Eze, St. Paul de Vence, Grasse, Biot, Monaco, and the Gorges du Verdon (France's small scale grand canyon) among others, are all great side trips. Driving in France is easy once you are familiar with road signs.
