Answering last post: just beginning research, viewing documentaries, reading books/web to make next decisions on how many nights where then researching hotels. Found one in VCE which has been delightful to work with: "Hotel Abbazia". Use various blogs, tripadvisor and the venere site as well. I am a former travel agent, ha 25 years ago, but still know the gig so to speak. In my blood....thanks

Double check the Trip Advisor reviews! Our place outside of Venice was highly rated and the reviews were great. I was so not impressed (my first TA let-town) and when I checked the reviews, I noticed most of them were by reviewers with only THAT review. I reported them to Trip Advisor, but nothing happened.
