Thank you so much to the people who helped out with my question about using Uber in Edinburgh Scotland. I tried to download the app today and it’s asking for a phone number. Apparently after you put in your phone number they text you with the code so you can join the app. I put it in my phone number multiple times but I’m not getting taxed at the code for some reason. I’m wondering if it’s because I’m overseas. I am doing it in Wi-Fi. Does anyone have any advice?
It might be more complicated that we think. I could be your phone blocking SMS from them, or you may have some other type of 2 step authentication system already installed but I found this troublshooting page that might help

Thanks so much Maria, I will try it!
if you are overseas be sure to put the plus sign and then the country code for your phone then your number with no punctuation.
For example if you are USA and have a dummy NYC number you would key in "+12125551212".
Is that what you had done?
Yes, I tried that but it still won’t work. I think I’ll wait till I get back to the US and try it there. I was able to add a taxi app so that will work for this trip, although it will cost a bit more than Uber. Thanks!
