Another shoe question!

I will be wearing sneakers most of the time but for Italy, I would like a nice, comfortable black sandal. Is it important to have the heel strap for comfort of does it matter? Who has the nicest black sandals. Ecco etc.. Thank you

Naot has some of the most comfortable sandals ever, I bought a pair last year, called coincidently "Paris" that I wore day in and out, they are good with pants OR dresses.
I have a narrower foot so Naots are perfect for me, I think if one had a very wide foot they wouldn't be the same fit.

I like having a heel strap for the more secure feel - better when dashing to catch a train or walking on cobblestones, I think.

I wore the Dansko Lolita in Europe. Very comfortable and stylish enough to wear with skirts.

Love my Dansko Lolitas! I have walked all over Paris, Florence, Venice, and parts of Switzlerland in mine.

Check out Finn Comfort. These sandals--no heel strap and available in a wide variety of colors--saw me through Berlin, Dresden, Prague, Cesky Krumloz, Vienna and Salzburg. They were super for cobble stone streets. They stayed on my feet during luge runs and my feet didn't hurt at the end of the day.

The Keen Newport sandals aren't dressy but they're very comfortable--even a good substitute for sneakers. I wore mine in Italy and they worked well on all surfaces. For something less casual I like the Dansko's too.

I've worn both with-strap and without, and would say that for all-day walking, and ankle stability, go with the strap.

I wore NAOT's "Marilyn" all over France last summer and they were great. NAOT "Soul" is also very comfortable, but not as sturdy.

I've had good luck with Mephisto (similar to "Agathe" style). Birkenstocks can be good, too, but you have to like the feel of the heel and most don't have the heel strap.

Have a great time!
