Is anyone watching this series? It is on Discovery Science channel on Saturday nights. It is a Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant production and is pretty funny.
Love love Ricky Gervais. Thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to DVR it! Did you guys see him on The Office with Steve Carrell a couple of weeks ago? Those 2 minutes he was on was hilarious! A bromance brewing, for sure!
We too are watching it. Very hilarious.
I'm watching it. And love it.
To answer James, no it's not. I watched it last week and enjoyed it. It's pure Ricky Gervais and I love his humor, but the whining did get a little tiresome towards the end.
Thanks for the heads up. I just set it up on my DVR to record.
Haven't seen the Petra episode yet, but China and India were pretty funny. Ricky and Stephen are sometimes downright mean to poor Karl though!
I don't know about this "idiot" show, but that long thread from the weekend about Americans travelling abroad made me think about the lyrics to Green Day's American Idiot...
Actually, the lyrics are pretty telling. "Don't wanna be an American idiot. One nation controlled by the media. Information nation of hysteria.
It's going out to idiot America." Love that album.
Had to laugh when, in the Petra episode, he was on the camel. They were playing the theme from Lawrence of Arabia.
i will be setting my tivo to tape it. perhaps it will make me feel better about my own mis-adventure! thanks!
To be honest, I thought I would like the series better than I did. After a couple episodes, the joke is getting a little stale, more about "let's see how we can make Carl miserable" than about the places he goes to.
We are huge fans of Ricky Gervais at our house. Wouldn't miss it.
Sometimes he really does make a lot of sense (like who would want to live near where they sacrifice people, even if it is beautiful- haha), and when we consider our mail system, here, I am impressed by that, too! (Other times, his whining or rudeness is a bit over the top, but that seems like it is dropping over time.)
LOVE this show. I hope lots of people are watching. I laughed hysterically when in the Peta episode, he said he was more impressed by the fact that the people who lived in a cave received mail, than he was by the actual Wonder of the World he was visiting. I honestly can't tell if Karl is really this big a goofball, or a superb comedic actor, or both? Either way, I have been laughing until I can't breathe.
