Used to be an American Express office @Spanish Steps in Rome...can't find evidence that it is still there. Anyone have info?
I assume you're asking about what happened to this particular office and not about Amex offices in Rome. If not, Amex will show you its locations over the Internet: http://www.amextravelresources.com/offices/?region=EMEA&country=Italy&city=Rome#/1/[]
janet...in the 60's the Spanish Steps became a hangout for the traveling Americans (including lots of long haired hippies) because of the Amex office...you could get your mail, change money or buy travelers checks there, or make travel arrangements (and if you had an Amex bank account, which I did, you could cash checks there easily).
Yes, it's still there... about 100 feet to the east of the Spanish Steps... headed towards the Trevi.
Thanks to all who have answered...I checked out the one website and lo and behold! I am glad to know that they have survived thus far. The one in Vienna has gone away....use AMEX to cash traveler's check as cash is a good alternative to the credit card conversion fees....and will be staying close by Spanish Steps...
Again, Molto grazie per tutta l'informazione!
