Anyone flown lately with Alitalia and a carry-on bag? Our RS Convertible is too large per the Alitalia guidelines. Anyone have a bag they can recommend, and how they handled the 5 kg. weight allotment?

Hmmm. Been over a year now, but I carried the RS convertible on a round trip flight to Roma with Alitalia. My impression was that, like so many things wonderfully Italian, it all depends on whom you get at the counter...there was a guy on our flight home who seemed to be carrying enough baggage for an entire calcio team, no questions asked!

How is the RS Convertible too large for the Alitalia carry on rules. The RS bag is 21 x 14 x 9. Alitalia allows 21.6 x 13.8 x 9.8. Do you really think .2 inches is going to matter? Of do you have a wheeled bag and not a convertible?
Either way, the 11 pound limit is going to be tough.
In this case, almost everyone has to check their bag unless, as noted previously, you get a gate agent who looks the other way.
