My husband and I will be on Corfu for two weeks in late July then have 17 days to explore further. We definitely want to go to Croatia but are trying to decide whether to go to Albania first because it's so easy to get to from Corfu or whether we should head straight to Croatia then up to Slovenia. Any suggestions? We will be flying from Corfu Town to Dubrovnik via Athens regardless of what we decide about Albania.

I was in Albania just this past October and would echo what Kaeleku says about the UNESCO sites. We also visited Butrint, Gjirokaster, Berat and found them wonderfully welcoming, educational and inspiring. I also agree with his assessment of Ohrid. It's a lovely, warm small town situated on a gorgeous lake. While I didn't hate Corfu, it was my least favorite part of our trip. I have also spent time in Slovenia and it quickly won a huge place in my heart, along with a vow to return soon. I especially fell in love with Ljubljana; the Julian Alps are awesome. I found the Slovenians to be amongst the friendliest and happiest people I've met on my travels and would choose to return there tomorrow, if I could! Someday.....
