Alaska Airlines Visa now available with chip and pin technology

I know this topic is a frequent one on this site, but wanted to let readers know that you can now get the chip and pin technology on Alaska Airlines Visa cards. It does, however, have the 3% foreign transaction fee with it. I know there are some cards out there with only a 1% fee. I have the Andrews Credit Union Visa card with no fee, but will carry this card as a back up.

Vanessa, are you sure it is chip and PIN, not chip and signature?

I just made the assumption that it was chip and pin. I just ordered the card so I'll have to see when it gets here.

Having it as chip and signature sort of doesn't make sense. What is the point of embeding the card with a chip and still requiring a signature? So I'm wondering how that will work in Europe?

I have a chip and signature card and so far I have only used in in Canada. They had me the card into the machine so it could read the chip (instead of swiping it), then they printed out a receipt for me to sign. It should work the same way in shops in Europe, but ticket machines, gas stations, and unattended toll booths may be a problem.
