Airport Security and Money Belts

Put it on after you go through security. In the past we have worn our belts through security with no problems because they contained no metal. However, two years ago while going through security in Frankfurt my wife's belt was detected on a secondary pat down. She was taken to a room and nearly stripped searched. She was ahead of me so I saw what was happening and got my off just prior to going through the scanner.

Almost 4 years ago they somehow found it on me in Amsterdam. Not sure how as there is no metal on it and nothing metal inside. It was before all the patdowns so they just made me take it off and put it through the line but now I dont even try, I just put it in my backpack.

I haven't gone through with the new procedures. In the past, I've worn it through security in the past, but I've had to take it off on the patdowns in the EU. I think this time, though, I'll put it in my carry on and find a bathroom after security.

Candice, I use the same method as the others. I leave the Money Belt in my carry-on and often don't wear it until just prior to landing in Europe. I keep money and cards in my wallet until then.
