what airlines do you recommend for travel from NYC to Istanbul?
AirFrance.
Back in March I flew to Istanbul with Continental out of Newark(now merged with United) via Munich; code share with Lufthansa to IST. Price was good, and everything was on time.
Turkish Airlines, because they're the only ones who'll fly you nonstop. We've flown them out of Chicago and they're fine.
I'm with Ed- Air France.
I flew nonstop from Chicago to Istanbul on Turkish Air and was pleased.
In September we flew Delta non-stop from JFK to IST. We were in coach and it was about what one would expect.
I flew Turkish Air from Istanbul to ORD in 2010 due to the volcano in Iceland. I was impressed with their service in coach. They served three meals in flight and the meals were very good out of Istanbul. Don't be afraid to give them
a try.
I agree with the advice on Turkish Air--best coach food in Europe, I think. Air France and Lufthansa are also OK for service generally, but the food will be mediocre.
I flew with my family from ORD direct to istanbul on turkish air. The service, plane, food, etc. was impressive. Reminded me of first class from years gone by. On the return flight there was a medical patient on board traveling with doctors and it looked to be a very professional situation.
Nancy, My career has me on air planes A LOT so with over 4 million air miles under my belt my choice would be Business Class on Air France. Ciao!
