We're planning a trip atlanta-London in July, but prices are $2000+!
Can anybody recommend any tricks to get it lower?
Should we just wait, or will it probably go up more?
Thanks!

2000 dollars.. EACH.. wow. I have never paid more then 1400 and that's from west coast of Canada..
I would keep looking.
Wow, just checked Kayak with some random July dates ATL-LHR, and, yeah, they are absurdly expensive! It's several hundred dollars cheaper to fly from LAX on the same dates, for example.
Don't know if you've just started looking at flights or have been tracking these for a while, but I would certainly wait at least a bit to see what happens. Check a few times every day, and if you see a fare that works for you, jump on it. If that doesn't work, you might want to look at using CDG instead of LHR for your return flight. This seemed to save about $300 on the same random dates in July. This would require the Eurostar, but you could buy your Eurostar tickets well in advance and get a decent price.
Good luck!
Sberry,
I also checked various websites & it's so expensive!
When are you planning to travel in July?
If you decide to fly to CDG (Paris), Eurostar is having a special on tickets.
"Trains between London and Paris from $56 one way" --these are economy tickets but it's a great deal and you can book 6 months ahead.
Best of luck to you!
There are nonstop flights between ATL and Manchester, which is a few hours' train ride from London. These flights seem to be about $300-400 less than flights to London (looking at random dates). Depending on your itinerary, starting in Manchester may actually be more convenient, or may be equal to starting in London.
You can always fly Atlanta to Brussels and take the Eurostar...about 1 hour to London. My wife did this last year and saved about $600.00. You need to remember to book the Eurostar well in advance to get a good fare.
sberry,
you can check flying into other nearby cities and taking a train from there.
Edinburgh is about a 4 hour train ride. Not fun, but depends on how much $$$ you want to "save".
As mentioned there is Manchester and also Leeds and Liverpool, but I'm not sure about how "international" they are and what flights go there.
one other thing, what day of the week you leave may make a difference. Plug and chug different days of the week and see what happens.
happy trails.
If you're willing to drive a few hours or more to a different airport, and don't mind spending the time trying all kinds of different routes and factoring in gas, parking, potential of one night in an airport hotel, etc, it could pay off. Last year my family of 3 were flying open jaw to Europe and summer fares were around $1800 per ticket. I looked into all kinds of options, including driving to airports as far a 7 hours from where we live. Ended up finding non-stop flights in both directions for $1200 per ticket out of Toronto (which is about 5 hours away from us). So the total savings for 3 tickets was $1800! Airport parking in Toronto was only $100 (for almost a month), and I found a decent hotel room for about another $100 so we could rest up when we got back and drive home the next morning. Even paying for gas, the savings was significant...probably close to $1500 total. And it was worth the drive to be able to fly non-stop. Not everyone's cup of tea...but it worked for us. Good luck!
Try using a search tool such as google.com/flights and you can even leave the destination blank - then use the maps to search. I am finding flights from Atlanta to London that are under $1500 but involves Air Canada and Iceland Air. It will come down if you are wiling to take a longer way to save money or prefer to fly nonstop.
You may need to fly out of another city in order to save money. For example, I am seeing roundtrips from Denver to Brussels for $1,006 and lots of days in July where it is around $1,080 which seems like a great fare for summer travel to Europe. The lowest I'm seeing is $976 for travel in Aug.
Want to add, you can use multiple airports in the origin and destination (upto 5) in google flights - which lets do lots of searches for various destinations and combinations.
Have you checked NorwegianAir out of Oakland, Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando? Many can fly inexpensively into these cities on budget carriers, like Southwest--and still come out far ahead.
Last time I checked, NorwegianAir was in a class of their own in low airfares.
Check Aer Lingus...Flights from $1102.00 then use budget carrier into London.
