If this needs to be moved please feel free to move. Was just checking out airfares from eastern Iowa to England for a trip in September. Right now the frare is about $525 rt. For a trip in May I paid almost $1000 for the same ticket.
I'm looking, too, and there are now a few options below $600 for open-jaw IAD (Wash-Dulles) to Nice // London - IAD, departing May 1, returning mid-September. The deals are on airlines linked to AA and Delta. Many of the outbound options start with a commuter flight within the US, and for at least some flights one would have to pay a fee to book seats in advance, but the total would still be much lower than the United-family fare of around $900.
Edited to add: I've been using flights.google.com .
lostnorwegian, what airline and what departure airport?
I second the airline and airport question!
My local airport is CID Cedar Rapids. The flights are on Delta, Virgin Atlantic , Air France and KLM. I am finding them on Kayak. My tenative dates are 9/16/17 - 9/27/17. The fare for that on Kayak shows as $522 for a round trip with one stop each way.
yes, i see fares as low as $490 from Kansas City to LHR for April/May.
We're looking at airfares from SFO to Athens and the best seems to be $1050. Generally don't buy this far in advance and was planning to wait another month or two. Advisable?
Thanks so much for posting - just booked Boise to Amsterdam in May for $400 each (round trip). We may decide to go in September as well!
Just booked a flight to Rome from San Diego in late April for $420.00. Insane rates right now !
Just booked roundtrip from Salt Lake City to Madrid in March for $405 and roundtrip from Salt Lake City to Brussels in April for $406 both on Delta!!! I rarely see airfare prices like this out of SLC, so am super excited to take advantage of it!
Just booked New York-Paris in late July for two weeks non-stop on Air France for $630....I'm happy!
I booked my spring flight (April 30 to May 16) into Paris for $525, including seat reservations (but small carry on only). It's on WOW air through Iceland, but very short layovers so actually faster than most one stop itineraries.
I got stuck in Iceland on my last trip home, because of a closed runway, but went with WOW again because they handled the delay about as well as possible (shuttle waiting for the 60 stuck passengers, provided hotel, dinner, breakfast, lunch, then got everyone on flights home the next day).
I wondered about WOW. I heard the food was bad, no movie screen and all the extra's add up to be about $100 more. But, even if those statements were all correct, it sure is a good fare. Don't know if those reviews are just cranky people or true?
A couple of months ago I booked tickets for next April from Boston to Lyon for $650 each. I thought that was a great fare based on past trips. Then recently I started to see fares under $400 round trip. Not that I'm complaining, but I wonder what's up? New competition from discount airlines like WOW? Fewer people traveling?
It has been reported here that demand for France, in particular, is significantly down.
