Air France and cdg

Hi!
I’m traveling on Air France hop from Zurich to cdg and then from cdg to Atlanta. I remember cdg being challenging to navigate through and I have only 1 hour and 10 minutes between flights. I would like to know what terminal the Air France Hop flight will arrive in and what terminal the Air France flight to Atlanta will leave from. I assume I don’t have to go through passport control since I’m already in Europe and going home to Atlanta- is that a correct assumption?

You go through passport control as you are leaving Europe. In the US your passport is checked by the airline at check in. In Europe,
Edit: although you never go into the public areas, you will also go through a security check to enter your transatlantic flight terminal. You will probably have a short tram ride for about 3 stops. I did it in forty minutes this week, but it was very early in the morning, and I was fifth off the first plane. As Carol wrote on another thread, do not stop for anything. Nothing. And remember to check the cut off for being inside your transatlantic plane. It's at least 20 minutes.
Edit#2: download the app so you know your departure gate without having to stop at one of those giant signs. You will also have numerous carpeted hallways and escalators, both up and down, on this trek. One last thing to speed up security, be ready to take all electronics out, have only tiny tubes of face, hand, hair creams. You can keep your shoes on..

Good luck! I agree with the travelers above - STOP for nothing. Head immediately to your gate. When you check in, let the agent in Zurich know you have a very short connection time in Paris. I have been very fortunate with AirFrance, they have gone above and beyond!

We prefer Delta and Air France and have been through CDG several times.

The airport is not as difficult to negotiate as some perceive, however 1 hour and 10 minutes is pushing your luck. Two hours is recommended, especially when flying transatlantic on the connecting flight.

The airport map can be found on the internet with terminals and another feature allow you to check which gates your flight arrive or depart from. Do that and discover if you have to change terminals. You probably will change terminals.

Hi all,

I have a similar question. Delta has a great price on a flight from ORD->CDG->ATH with a 1 hour 10-minute layover in CDG. If we were to miss the flight, what would Delta do to help since they are the carrier for all the flights.

Thanks,

Sharon

If you have a through ticket, Delta should take care of you without argument. The potential issue is that they can't put you on a flight that doesn't exist or a flight that is full. (Well, they could do the latter, but I can't imagine they would, unless you're a very high-status frequent flyer.) Therefore, it's possible you wouldn't get back home until the next day. If your originally scheduled flight is early in the day, there's a better chance that something will be available for you than if your routing involves the last flight of the day out of CDG.

Sharon,
Since your connecting flight is from CDG to Athens, I suggest checking the DELTA/ Air France/KLM flight schedules from CDG to Athens that follow your scheduled flight, in case you miss your connection.

There may be several flights to Athens that day, which would increase your chance of arriving on the same day if you missed your scheduled flight.

It strikes my that Bobby's experience is the sort of thing that makes people say not to change planes at CDG. All may have ended well, but it seems there must have been some luck involved with that much confusing direction being given.

I find CDG to be confusing and those that you ask which I did BTW not very helpful. I finally discovered that I had to take a shuttle from one terminal to another by asking two French women
( mother and daughter). The daughter spoke fluent English and was able to convey that a shuttle was necessary.
So I am coming in from Zurich and connecting in CDG to go back to Atlanta. Do I have to go through passport control after landing to get on my Atlanta bound airplane?

Switzerland is in the Schengen area as is France. Therefore you need to go through passport control at CDG.

As you will be exiting the Schengen Zone from CDG, I have to believe there will be some passport formalities to complete.

To see where your flights arrive/depart at CDG, I would use the AF 'check flight status' and input your flight numbers to see where they are.

A quick look shows the ZRH-CDG arrives at 2F and the flights to ATL leave from 2E

Good luck
