Ahhhhh the beauty of youth!

Hello.....my 21 yr old daughter wants to take a trip with 6 other girls for the month of July. They will be leaving from Australia. The places they would like to visit are London, Paris, Barcelona, Sorrento, Positano and Mykonos. My questions are where should they start, which places should they fly/train between?
I used this site a few years ago and it was amazing.......finding a secret door to get museum tickets in Florence for myself and above mentioned daughter. Hoping someone may be able to help me now.....

How about open jaw from Melbourne on Emirates through Dubai to Athens and home from London.
Fly Mykonos to Rome, then train to Naples to Sorrento bus to Positano then bus and train back to Rome for flight to Barcelona if nothing available from Naples. Barcelona to Paris to London can all be done by train.

Edit- Looking at airline schedules it might be best to fly Mykonos to Barcelona then to Naples because Vueling has direct flights for that. Then fly Easyjet to Paris and finally Eurostar train to London. It is a very wide swath of Europe she wants to travel. Air will be the best way to cover those distances.

Hi, Anna. And hello to beautiful Australia.

I agree with Sam. Your daughter and her friends should buy open-jaw tickets, flying into one place and out from another locale. The first question is which should be destination and which the point of departure. The Athens and London airports are both accommodating.

I slightly recommend flying into London -- unless you can think of a practical reason to fly into Athens -- for two reasons. When I made my first trip overseas in my late 20s, it was to Ireland, where English is the dominant language. It might be easier for the young ladies to acclimate to being overseas first in London, where English is the native language, especially if this is their first trip abroad. Another key reason is it might be more memorable for them to start in a big city, like London, and then venture into the blue waters and warm climes of the Mediterranean.

I recommend that they take either a train or ferry between all points on their itinerary, also for a reason. I am thinking of their memories again. Ferries and trains are fun. There are plenty of ferries between Greece and Italy. If they add Venice to their itinerary, it's a guarantee that they'll love that ancient city. They can take the ferry between there and Corfu or Patra, Greece. Go here for information: http://www.greekferries.gr/. At the same time, I can see the practicality of flying from Athens to Barcelona, Venice or another destination. Cheers.
