Aer Lingus

Any recent experiences flying Aer Lingus. Online reviews have blistered the airline for lost luggage and poor customer service.

I used to be a big fan of Aer Lingus, especially their business class section. However, my experience in Sept/Oct was definitely not good value for my money. They changed planes at the last minute leaving Chicago and I did not get my single seat which I loved (there are usually 2 of these in the business section which are great for solo travelers.} I was put in a window seat in an aisle with no electricity-no entertainment, no overhead lighting, no ability to work the screen, no ability to make the seat lie flat etc. The return trip from Dublin to Toronto was a smaller plane than previous trips with only 1 aisle and 3 seats on each side of the aisle. The plane was completely packed making getting up to stretch your legs or go to the toilet impossible any time the FA's and their carts were out. My previous trips on AL never made me feel like I was flying a budget airline. This trip definitely did, but I wasn't paying budget prices. The response to my critique sent to them after I was home, was pretty much 'oh, well stuff happens.' Before the trip I could not get a response on which air club they would be using in Chicago, or even if there would be one available (there usually was pre Covid.} They also could not tell me at what time the Aer Lingus desk would be open to check my bag (they don't have a regular service desk at ORD and the desk is only open a couple hours before a flight.} It was a very disappointing experience; very different from other trips. I no longer recommend them and I probably will not fly them again. I should have been warned when in 2020 it took 11 months for them to send me a voucher (or even say they would) after flights were cancelled and travel shut down.
