$100 would be about 60EU at present exchange rates. Check with www.eurocheapo.com or the Let's Go books for low cost rooms. There are a few in Rick's 2007 Paris book for singles at 60 Eu or less. Hotel du Commerce in the 5th probably has doubles for less than $100. I've stayed there several times. There is no elevator, but there is a very nice breakfast room for self-service and free internet (when I was there a couple of years ago). I'll be staying there in a single room in May for 49 Eu per night. I think the rate is the same for a double. The rooms are not small; they are refurbished rooms in a very old building. Reception personnel usually speak good English. Notre Dame is about a 10 min walk away. The neighborhood has a laundromat, Chinese take-out, small grocery stores, bakeries, bars, a twice-weekly street market, and a large police station.
