This is a lot of destinations in a short time. Each time you move you spend time and money just on that. You're giving yourselves two full days in Paris, two full days in Copenhagen, and one full day each in Brussels, Amsterdam, and Hamburg, plus whatever parts of days you can work in between trips to and from stations and airports plus actual transit time.

If all these places are important enough to visit, I'd think they'd be important enough to spend more time in -- which of course means choosing just two or three and saving the rest for later. What's important for you to see or do in Hamburg? Brussels? If it were my trip I'd skip those cities to give at least one more day to Paris, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen before ending in Bremen. Since you're apparently locked into your Paris time, you could give that extra day to Amsterdam or Copenhagen, or maybe Bremen to get a feel for where your daughter will be spending more time.

Your plan calls for four train rides and a flight in the 13 full days you'll have in Europe. That's a lot of stations and airports to remember fondly in years to come. I'd rather spend that time in some of the cities themselves. Your choice which ones.

I agree with Dick. I'd add to Paris if you can ( l love Paris) and spend more time in fewer places. You are only getting one full day with those two night stops. It's hard to really establish experiences in your memories when you move so quickly - from my experience. I know it's hard to limit your trip because there is so much you want to see, but less is really more.

You've really got too much, imho.

My advice is to spend more time in Paris and write off the Brussels ticket. You could skip Brussels or find the time someplace else.

Hi,

If you are going to Brussels and Hamburg with history in mind, I can certainly name one historical place/site in each for you to track down. If so, then I would suggest dropping Copenhagen....keep Brussels and Hamburg.

I would want extra time for Belgium and Amsterdam. Forget the effort getting to Copenhagen, substituting instead a single night in Cologne.

June 28 - 3 nights in Paris
July 01 - 3 nights in Brussels (or stay in Ghent)
July 04 - 3 nights in Amsterdam
July 07 - 1 night in Cologne
July 08 - 2 nights in Hamburg
July 10 - 1 night in Bremen
July 11 - mom flies home

A reasonably speedy trip for me would be two places per week or less with a major city such as Paris. Two night stays mean one day visiting a place. You don't say why you have picked these destinations/what interests you.

I would join others and suggest that you add at least another 2 nights to Paris, but can your Brussels ticket be changed/cancelled?

Personally, I consider Brussels the dullest place I have visited anywhere in Europe, but each to their own. This would be one of the places that I would consider dropping to streamline your trip and take the train straight to Amsterdam - I would add another night here to give 2 full days in Amsterdam (still rushed as 3 would be better). Copenhagen is geographically remote from the others and there is less to see here than other cities in Europe, although it's very pleasant, so I would consider dropping it.

Again, personal choice, but I would swap Hamburg for Berlin - great modern history. I would spend a day longer in Berlin than Amsterdam.

In summary, I would do

Paris 5 nights
Amsterdam 3-4 nights
Berlin 3-4 nights
Bremen 1 night

It will be a bit tiring, however, since the trip itself is not too long, shouldn't be a problem. Not too much to see in Bremen, but since your daughter will study there you can't skip this one :D

Thanks for advice!

I traveled with oldest daughter 2 summers ago before she studied outside Munich. We were in Europe for 2 weeks: 3 nights London, 2 nights Amsterdam, 3 nights Berlin, 2 nights Dresden and 3 nights Munich. We never felt rushed!

I really feel Copenhagen is too much BUT my daughter made the itinerary and since it is her trip I want to leave it alone.

I think I was posting here becasue I want to drop Copenhagen. But have decided to leave things alone and quit second guessing everything.

But if your daughter is starting an extended study period in Germany then she will have the opportunity to explore many places (including Copenhagen) on her own, or with new friends.
