Diana,

The Charger for your Canon digital Camera is most likely designed for "world operation", so all you'll need is an inexpensive Plug Adators for France & Italy (two round pins). However, it would be a really good idea to verify the "Input Voltage" ratings on the Charger - if the ratings state "100-240 VAC", the Charger will work fine in Europe.

For your I-Pod Touch you'll probably need to buy an extra Charger if you're not travelling with a Laptop. Check the Logiix website as they have very compact travel chargers with folding pins. Again, you'll need a Plug Adaptor and I don't believe the Logiix models are equipped with a USB/IPOD Cable, so you'll have to take your normal cable. Be sure to also verify that the Charger is designed for 100-240 VAC.

You can purchase Plug Adaptors at Magellans, Radio Shack stores and many travel/luggage stores.

Happy travels!

I think your ipod should charge fine as long as you have the right prongs. The ipod is built to take both charges.

One more suggestion:

If you are charging your camera & iPod via a USB cable, there is an excellent device available for about $10-15 (price changes daily) on Amazon. It's called MusicPower Duet, and it's one of my favorite travel items now. It charges two USB devices via one plug-in, and the plug-in is collapsible, so it takes up no space.

I found it very handy, since USB cables tend to be smaller than bringing lots of separate plug-ins & the device itself is so small. It cut my "electronics" packing down into one of those snack-size Ziploc bags. I loved it! Plus, it's handy to be able to charge two electronics in one outlet, especially in a hotel with limited outlets or in a hostel where you are sharing outlets.

It's well worth the $10/15 if you have multiple USB electronics.

If you're staying in hotels, most of their front desks have adaptors that you can borrow to recharge small electronics (that don't require a convertor).
