a few weeks ago someone posted a link to an organization through which private accommodations can be arranged, somewhat similar to couch-surfing but a bit more upscale. I thought I bookmarked it but can't find it anywhere. Anybody knows what I'm talking about?
Lee,
we're looking for accommodation in Berlin for Dec. 31 - at this time a pretty desperate case where I need to look beyond the regular sources to find something. Not very much different from trying to find accommodation in Munich for Octoberfest 4 weeks before opening ...
btw your tip usually works very well. But www.Berlin.de is very frustrating: the search doesn't limit your options properly so you have to go through a huge amount of results individually of which 99% turn out inappropriate e.ge. booked, out of price range ... extremely time consuming in a large city like Berlin.
yes!!! That was the one I was looking for. I'm trying to find last-minute accommodations in Berlin so my brother can celebrate "Silvester" with us.
Thank you!
After looking up a few towns on Airbnb is would say that there is still no substitute for going directly to the towns own website. www.townname.(country extension). I stayed in Zimmer in four towns (Osterhofen, Mittenwald, Pfronten, and Freilassing) last summer, all of which I found using the town website. I checked for any Privatzimmer in those four towns using Airbnb. Only for Freilassing did they suggest anything close, in Salzburg, not nearly as convenient, for more and without breakfast.
