I have lost our accommodations outside of Paris that we thought we had and am looking for a place for four in August around the 19th for one week. I know the French take holiday the first three weeks of Aug. Can anyone recommend a trustworthy site to go to.

i am writing this from an apartment we rented in paris through vrbo.com (as i wait for today's pics to upload...) and it is THE best thing we've EVER done. we will always rent an apartment. totally different--and better--experience. highly recommended.

Try Vacation In Paris. They are great and have a lot of apartments in all areas and prices.

Just google 'Paris vacation rental' and see what comes up. We've rented places twice there that way and they have been great. Different sites come up and you just need to sit down and take your time to go through them - but it should be worth it. Some places only rent Sat - Sat but we stayed last year for 4 nights and there were quite a few options. Good luck!

You might also try Parisattitude.com. We just rented 2 apts in Paris through them and were very satisfied. Their prices are lower than VIP and some others.
