Accommodation Prices

I travel to europe twice a year. I already made most of my apartment/hotel accommodation for April 2025. I plan this early as I am then able to check out my bus/train transpo options and they are mostly similar from one year to the next. I am very specific in what I want in an apartment (99% of my accommodations) so like to check those out as well.

I was ruminating on a couple of choices of town and accommodations in 2 towns over these past couple of days. I finally made my choice this afternoon.

As I was sitting at the computer booking my hotel, the page "refreshed" and the prices more than doubled. I know now to never ever procrastinate. It's not that the new prices were outrageous it's just that I knew the cost when it was half it is now and what I now have to pay!

I wonder if you delete your cookies and go back in if the price will drop back to what it was before? I am NOT a tech person but I wonder if they are tracking your searches?

The cookie monster is not something I believe in. If I were considering a hotel and the price increased each time I checked its website I wouldn't be considering it much longer and would move on to the next. I question the wisdom of inserting cookies that cause an increase in prices displayed to return visitors.

Hotels do adjust prices and at 11 months out there's little incentive to move rates downward. A hotel chain that I like to use, uses dynamic pricing with rates that move up or down depending on projected occupancy.

Gosh that is quite something !!! I would be pretty annoyed if I saw that on my screen.

I believe in the cookie monster and I suggest going back in with an incognito window. I have seen this work to get better pricing SOMETIMES, but not as a general rule.
