Can anyone recommend some cheap but clean accommodation in Venice? We are looking for very basic, 2 beds in private room with own facilities hopefully close to centre of Venice. Julia, Australia

We stayed at the Hotel Santa Lucia (www.hotelslucia.com) in Venice...it is very centrally located, clean but simple. A Double with bath runs 70-115 euros..double with bath down the hall runs 50-90 euros. My family loved it and the little old lady who serves breakfast on the lovely terrace was a charmer!!!

Alloggi Barbaria was very nice. It was a 10 min walk from St Marks but it was in a quiet neighbourhood. Huge room for 110 euros for two people (could accomodate 3 as there was another bed)

We just got back from Venice and we stayed at Casa Rezzonico and really enjoyed it. We would definitely stay there again.
