Hi folks, I am travelling to these 3 cities in late September and wonder where to stay (preferably close to city centre). My budget is about 80 to 100 Euro per night. Thanks in advance!
We stayed at Motel One in Frankfurt and were very happy with this accommodation.
I stayed at the London Hotel in Milan last year, and was very happy with it. Reasonable, nice place, and excellent location, a short block off of the Via Dante.
Motel One is good, so is Ibis. There are lots and lots of hotels in Frankfurt to stay in and it does depend when you will be there. If it is during a big Trade Fair, prices will triple. If it is a weekend, you can great deals on hotels. There are lots of B&B type places here too. So, if you want basic or quaint, or modern, let us know and we can make better suggestions. Personally, I like using www.hrs.com to find hotels. You can always look up hotels, and prices, the neighborhoods, amenities and then look at the hotels own website to see which is cheaper.
Thanks everyone for the input! Jo, I will be in Frankfurt on Sept 24, 25 and 26. I only need "basic" - clean room, building not too old and a convenient location. Would there be more suggestions?
Villa Florentina, Savigny Hotel, Hotel Alexander am Zoo, Beethoven Hotel, Spener Haus, Hotel am Berg, Hamburger Hof, Hotel Concorde, the Pur, Hotel Nizza, Victoria Hotel, Excelsior Hotel, Hotel Monopol, Hotel Goelz, Hotel Robert Mayer, are just a few.
When I was in Frankfurt last summer, I stayed at the Ibis Centrum and was very happy with it. I booked thru their website and got a discount for prepaying. Breakfast is extra (and cheaper outside) so I skpped it. The location was very convenient, the staff very helpful. The free wifi worked well. The rooms are pretty small, but for one person, it's not a problem. The only thing I didn't like was the all-purpose soap in the shower, so if you stay there, bring your own toiletries. I had a room facing the back - no view but pretty quiet. Then, when I returned to Frankfurt, I had a room facing the river, nice view, but more street noise when the window was open. The AC worked fine, though.
The Best Western Hotel Major in Milan was very close to the metro which made it quick to the city center. We enjoyed the comfortable room, the large buffet breakfast and friendly staff. The Best Western chain of hotels in Europe is higher quality than those in the States. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at any of their properties.
