Accepting credit cards in Ohrid,North Macedonia

Hi everybody

Plan to go to Ohrid this summer,I have heard rave reviews about the old city and the lake beaches.
Can someone tell me if they accept credit cards in most restaurants, museums etc?Or is it better to change my pounds to denars.
Many thanks in advance.

I've been to Ohrid twice in the past couple of years and never had any problems using credit cards. I do carry small bills for use at farmers market and small local stalls but didn't have any issues with cards at restaurants or shops. Enjoy your visit - it's beautiful!

I'ts mixed - we were there last September. We used CC for the hotel . The tourist boats (recommended) took euros cash. The restaurants mainly took cards. The taxis (and good luck finding one) were cash dinars only.

We ended up buying our tickets to Albania via our hotel - the receptionist walked over the correct place to buy them - in her now time - and refused a tip - we paid cash dinars for those - but you may have been able to use a card. If you bring any foreign currency I'd bring euros. There are ATMs all over.

I did not have any problems this summer..most of the places accept cards but I paid everything with cash because it is quite affordable....a scoop of gelato in the pretty Old Town cost me just 90p, a cappuccino in a posh lakeside cafe came in at £1.55 and my Airbnb apartment was around £15 per night with a lovely balcony view...
