Hi, my 21 year old twins will be doing a brief trip through France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, and Spain this summer. They will of course have their passports, as well as ISIC (international student identification cards) with their picture. Is there any need for them to take their drivers license as well? They would like To minimize things that could get lost or stolen.
A lot of 21 yo students (or people for that matter) around the world do not have drivers licenses. So unless they are driving, no need.
A trip to five countries doesn't sound like something that could be "brief" at least not for myself ... but aside from that they probably won't be interesting in driving a car. However, renting a scooter in some places could be a fun thing to do and having a DL for that would be helpful.
