No, but I DO bring my Costco card. I have found Costcos at the oddest cities!

What kind of card are you referring to?

My husband works for AAA Carolinas. Of course he always has his card with him. I don't know of any places where it would do you any good. Though if you are renting a car, MAYBE the British AA (Automobile Association) would honor it ( I don't know for certain).

^Okay, thanks to you I just spent half an hour googling costco locations! Seriously, thank you, it was entertaining. I know stores are worldwide now, but I really wasn't expecting that one. Too funny! I'm not really finding any that are easily convenient for the places I'm at (London, Brighton, Dublin, Wales, Carlisle, Edinburgh), and without a car, but it's still nice to know that if I get a desperate urge for a REALLLLY big bag of chips, it's out there. ;)

I;ve never used it in Europe, but I always have my AAA car with me in case I break down between my house and the airport.

I did, simply because I had travel insurance with them, not for discounts or car rentals etc...

I am not planning on taking my card with me when we go -- but I did get a discount when making reservations through Auto Europe ( Hertz) for my car rental in Switzerland.

Related to the Costco card, we had our Sam's Card with us in Mexico and found one in Playa Del Carmen. It was fascinating to see what they offer vs the home store...plus...they had absolutely the best prices on Tequila, Snorkel equipment, and many other things. In general, I try to visit many "non-tourist" stores when I travel, those and markets really attract me...done hijacking the thread now.

Actually you may indeed be able to use your AAA card in Europe. Email AAA for countries in Europe that accept a AAA card (or go to the travel desk of your local AAA). Find the localEuropean networked variations and show them your card. Free maps etc. plus helpful advise. Sometimes but not always you can get the same towing service/flat tire help. Ask (ahead) at your rental car desk or even better, email ahead of time. Worked like a charm in New Zealand.

We used our AAA card for a discount at the Best Western Park Hotel in Erding, Germany.

As far as I know, the Hyatt Hotel chain recognizes CAA & AAA memberships and provides a discount on hotel rates.
