A passport question

Ok, this may sound really dumb and trivial, but I'm not sure what to do. I went to sign my passport and I don't know what to sign. :) Here's the problem, I have 3 names then my last name. Instead of using a middle initial, I always use my first initial and go by my second name and never use my 3rd name. So do I sign my name like I usually do? OR sign every single name and my last name like it's listed on my passport?

Sign it with your uasual signature. It doesn't matter how many name you have. Nobody would check that signature.

Thanks all for your help. Sometimes it's nice to have an extra name, kind of unique and all and then at times like this, it sometimes causes some confusion. You should of heard me try to explain it to the guy at the post office when I applied for my passport. I think he wanted me to sign and get out of there as soon as possible. HAHA!

I don't know, Sue, but I'd be interested to hear the answer, too. I have always signed mine with ballpoint.

When your new passport arrives (with your Certificate of Naturalization), please sign it in ink using a felt-tip, rollerball or calligraphy-type pen (no ballpoint pens). Sign it exactly as you did on your passport application using the same signature you would use to sign checks, traveler checks, and credit card slips.

Inks in ballpoints are washable and easily removed. The others are more difficult.

I would apply for your passport with the same name and form as is on your birth certificate and other documents supplied for ID, sign the passport the same as shown on the passport, and as important, when you buy your airline tickets, use the name as it is in the passport.

I believe you have to sign it exactly as the name shown on the passport.

I had my passport printed they way I use my name.

"R. Donald Smith" and then signed it that way.

The only item i have that has my first name is my birth certificate.

Just provide them with documentaion showing the way you use your name for all of your legal business.

I have four names as well (two first, two last). On my passport, I signed all four names. It's not likely to cause a problem if you don't, but some people in customs offices around the world have nothing better than to scrutinize your passport, especially American passports.

Not quite the same subject, but make sure that your flight ticket is bought under the same name as your passport. Last year my husband reversed my names and that caused a bit of delay at the check in counter..

I also think you should sign it exactly as shown on the Passport. Afterall, that was the name(s) you specified at the time of application with supporting documentation.
Check with the Passport Office.
