A Eurail travel day

I have a 15 day 2 month eurail pass and would like to know what constitutes a day. The literature say it's midnight to midnight. I'm thinking about taking a night train from Milan to Vienna. The journey will begin in the evening one day and end in the morning the next. Is that one or two travel days?

Thanks

Frank

I found an answer on the "Man in seat 51" website. As long as I leave after 7 PM and I arrive after 4 AM, it counts a one day on the day of the morning I arrive. Hope that made sense.

Maybe while you’re at the Man in seat 61 site, you want to read his article about rail passes. Not really a great deal.

... a direct overnight train uses up only one travel day (not two) on a flexipass, as long as you board after 7 p.m. and do not change trains before 4 a.m. (you just write the arrival date on your flexipass).

Hi,

Based on the information above on how a "night train ride" is defined, ie, 19:00 hrs to 0400 hrs with date of the arrival filled in, , ie even if the ride is of short duration, say, from 23:58 to 04:15, (I know, just an example, but I've been on night trains where individuals/ and families (German), have gotten off shortly after 4 am. You know, since they review their schedule once in the compartment)

Now, if later that day (ie, your date of arrival filled in on your Pass), you decide the take the ICE for day trip, r/t., that day trip is included, no extra charge.

For example, you get in to Berlin. By 10:30 am , checked in, had breakfast, you decide to take the next ICE to Leipzig or Lutherstadt Wittenberg., returning to Berlin by 2200 hr. (for example) This is all done using one pass day. I've done this numerous times.
