Thanks to this message board, I found out that Verizon will unlock my Iphone so I can use it in Europe so I went ahead and got that done. My question is, has anyone here actually done that? Once I get a data sim card will the phone work just as well?

Claudette, The phone will work the same as it does at home. The terms for calling costs, data usage, etc. will vary of course, depending on the provisions of the plan that you sign up for. I have "sort of" done that. I used a "travel SIM" in my unlocked iPhone 4S on my trip this year. The SIM they provided was from O2 in the U.K., so I had a U.K. phone number. It was a bit more expensive than I anticipated, so I'll be "fine tuning" the arrangements for my trip next year. Happy travels!
