Using a Laptop

We will be going to Europe, mostly Italy, this summer. We have a Dell laptop computer. What kind of converter will I need to make it functional, and not blow up, in Europe/Italy? I have heard that the regular cord/converter that comes with the computer will work, and that all I need is a coupler on the plug-in end so it will fit into a European wall socket. True?

Thanks.

I'm not positive but the best thing to do is call Dell tech support and they'll give you an answer.

Look at the power supply for the computer. If it says something like Input 100V-240V 50-60Hz, it is fine for the European power. Actualy, I haven't seen a new computer being sold in years that will not operate on European voltages.

Take my Fujitsu Lifebook overseas regularly. No converter required just a plug converter for the wall outlet. I don't think any laptop is sold that can't work in Europe - what would all those business folks do!
