Do you think airfare will continue to go down? I'm looking at traveling to England Oct. 20.
Many posters will tell you that we can't just look into our crystal ball and predict what airfare will be. Airfare this year is an absolute joke. I have been tracking airfare for London since January and the fluctuations in price have been minimal. In january, they were about $1000, and still are for the time that I had wanted to travel. I then started to look for airfare to spain; once again, all in the $1000 range for winter travel. I have never payed that much. I finally settled for $940 into madrid and out of barcelona, for a total of $1090 for 2 tickets using my frequent flyer miles.
Some will tell you that there are less planes flying, driving up the demand to fill up a plane. Some will tell you that gas has everything to do wiht the high costs. But in my last 7 years of travel have I ever paid over $900 for a winter fare. But I did this year. I am not happy but its all done and now I look forward to my trip.
Just got this from Airfarewatchdog about a sale to London for the fall. You might want to take a look at it. Most fares in the 700's. http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/cheap-flights/to-london-england/1693/?airport_code=lhr I came up with a Delta flight from Spokane for $824.
Yup, just entered Tampa to London and it is by far the cheapest airfare I have seen on Delta for London......at $817. For awhile, US air had some fares in the high 700s but I was wanting Delta for my frequent flyer miles. Had I not bought my tickets to Spain, I would have reconsidered London at that rate. Airfare this year has been as good as it has been to me in the past. Carolyn, what kind of airfares have you been quoted? What are you willing to settle with? You may need to book soon. England is a popular destination since all the Olympic coverage and finding accommodations may be a challenge if you wait too long. Edit: airfare has notbeen good to me as it has been in the past.
Ive been watching airfare to London from several cities in the midwest for about 3 months, and the prices are going up a little. Today prices on Travelocity and hotwire are up about $60 dollars (to just over $1000) from last week when I was seeing mostly around $960. In the past few months I've seen prices between $870 and $1060 for the cheapest budget fares. I think if I saw a sale for around $850, I would get them. I'm not traveling until the spring though, so I'm waiting. I found prices this time last year in the upper $700s, so I'm guessing they aren't going to go down a lot from where they are now. Just my 2 cents though. None of us can say for sure what prices will do unless they have a secret in with the airlines.
