Eating in Venice

Hi Guys Am visiting Venice in a few weeks and would like to find somewhere away from the main square where we could have a nice meal that wont cost a fortune, is that possible? We will be there overnight. Would appreciate any recommendations

We had a very nice dinner after the opera at Vino Vino located on Campo San Fantin across from La Fenice. They have a pleasant garden seating area in the back if the weather is good. Good food at a fair price (for Venice).

Of course that's possible. This is my favorite spot but understand, no English spoken, the place is popular and tiny, you must be prompt and you must make reservations. Trattoria da a Marisa Fondamenta San Giobbe a Canaregio 652. You should also look at a few food blogs. http://foodloversodyssey.typepad.com, http://venicetravelblog.com/food-and-drink/, http://www.walksofitaly.com/blog/venice/budget-dining-in-venice-italy-with-cicchetti-at-bacari
Each can be helpful in finding somewhere that meets your criteria.

We recently enjoyed Ristorante al Giardinetto, listed in the guidebook. It is near Campo Santa Maria Formasa.

Favorite restaurant is on a back street called Da Mamo. We ate there twice 2 years ago and this year will do so again. Locals eat there and the place has been handed down from father to son so very well established. If you take the street direct off the Rialto Bridge you will come to a mini piazza there should be a Disney store on a corner facing you - go down the alley to the right and you should find this restaurant. They do have homemade pizza to order BUT many other wonderful dishes.
