Rome and Florence

Hi all, I will be in Rome in early august for 9 days, but would like to go to Florence for 1 or 2 days. I was planning on 4 days in rome 2 days in florence and return to rome for 2 days. I depart afternoon on the 9th day. What are your recommendations for hotel stays in Rome and Florence? Do any hotels store luggage in Rome so I am not carrying all luggage. I am traveling with my mom who is in her late 60s.

Silvia, Your plan is certainly possible. For Hotels in Rome, you might have a look at Hotel Sonya or Hotel Aberdeen (both in the Termini area). I'd suggest checking the Guidebook or Trip Advisor for suggestions in Florence. If you stay in the same Hotel for both trips to Rome, they may be willing to store your luggage (you'll have to ask). That would be the easiest solution. There's also a Baggage Storage at Roma Termini, but IMO that would be a last resort. Happy travels!

It's also possble to rent an apartment for the 8 -9 days, leave your extra luggage in the apartment while you go to Florence for 2 days. A small apartment rental for the 8 or 9 nights would probably be cheaper than hotel rooms for 6 nights. It's just a possibility. We rented our Rome apartment thru sleepinitaly.com and they were wonderful! Were were there last July for 8 days. We loved Rome!

It will be easier to give you hotel recommendations if you give us an idea of your budget and your minimum requirements.

I second the apartment in Rome suggestion. It probably will be as cheap or cheaper to be in and apartment for 9 days as it would be in a hotel for six and apartments are much more comfortable than hotels, what with the refrigerator, washer, and stove. And you won't have to worry about check in time on your return to Rome.

I can recommend the bed and breakfast where we stayed in florence last month. It was beautiful, lovely breakfast included, the hosts were very helpful and friendly, it had a great location. It is called Casa dei tin tori. you should be able to rad about it on trip advisor. Tell riccardo I sent you. I would stay there again in a minute f we go back.
