7 Weeks Europe

We have 47 days in Europe from late October to early December. We are trying to put together a realistic itinerary. Places we would like to visit if practical are:
London - 6.5 days with night train to Paris
Paris - 5 days
Switzerland 10 days (12 with travel) - we are interested in Berner Oberland, Lucerne, Zermatt. We are not skiers however we want to appreciate the scenery and snow
Eastern Europe (Prague 3.5-4 days, Vienna 2.5 days and Budapest 3.5 days)
Germany - we are looking at Munich for 2.5 days, followed by a 7 day drive Romantic Road from Munich visiting Linderhof Castle, Neuschwanstein, Rothenburg and ending in Nuremburg with a train to Berlin for 5.5 days. We are looking at flying back home from Berlin.

Does this look doable? What are the best places to visit in Switzerland in the timeframe?

If the itinerary looks realistic, what is the best order to travel and mode of transportation for each place?

A night train to Paris? No. The EuroStar through the Chunnel takes only 2.5 hours. Leave in the morning and have lunch in Paris.

I have only been to the Berner Oberland in early October, late August and January. I am concerned your time in November might be rather between seasons, not yet snowy. You might post your Switzerland questions on the Switzerland board where you will get more responses. Chris in Muerren will be of help if he sees your question.

I can tell you the train from Paris to Zurich to anywhere in Switzerland is a reasonable thing to do. Check schedules at SNCF and SBB.CH.

Thank you Laurel for your advice. I should have been more specific that we may leave London late afternoon and catch the train and spend that night in Paris so we can start our Paris sightseeing in the morning. I'm not too sure if there is much value in this.

I will look at posting on the Switzerland forum as you have suggested and see if there are any recommendations.

I understand now. Usually when people say "night train" they mean overnight. You can go either way. Leave early, check-in and embrace the day in Paris, or leave late and start in the AM!

Good that you're in Germany during the Christmas market season which begins the final week of November in most places.

7 days is excessive for the RR as the walled towns tend to be quite similar and the distance is short. IMO after Linderhof and N'stein (neither of those is a CASTLE, by the way) you could pay Nördlingen a visit (it's a somewhat less touristy, less "trinkety" RR town) and then leave the tourist path and do some zigging and zagging on your way north to see a better variety of places. The RR actually bypasses some very interesting places, including these:

PAPPENHEIM and things to see and do there
Bad Windsheim and the excellent Franconian Freilandmuseum (where you get to see how the locals really lived over the last 6 centuries or so!)
Marktbreit

Würzburg is a very worthwhile wine center and enjoyable small city at the north end of the RR and like Marktbreit on the Main River.

Then I would spend some real time in Nuremberg and also in it's lovely neighbor to the north, BAMBERG, a UNESCO World Heritage city.

Such a trip would be quite doable by train if you wish.
