Where to stay in Rome

I have been searching and am looking for opinions on where to stay in Rome. There are 3 adults traveling and would like air conditioning, private bath and closer to ground floor. Some say to stay in the Novona, Pantheon area, others say Vatican?? I would like it to be aroun$150-200USD or less if possible. Thanks

We prefer the Termini for convenience (walking) to Termini and local transit -- Sonya, Aberdeen, and Contilla. PS -- Do a search on this site and you will find this question discussed daily. Also look in the Italy section.
