We will be staying near Padua / Venice for a week in early May and are interested in renting bikes for all or part of that time. Is there a way to check on availability / rates before we get there? I have looked in numerous guidebooks and tried searching on the internet but cannot find the names / addresses / contact info for any bike shops in that area. Thanks.

Neither Padua or Venice are particularly conducive to riding bikes (well, it's done in Padua, but..) Are you thinking you want to get to some good bike routes in the Veneto? If so, where?

We are actually staying in the small village of Agugliaro; Padua is the closest city and I am guessing it would the nearest source for bikes. Our thought was to ride in the Veneto, not in the city.
