We are going to Madrid and then onto Barcelona. Has anyone stayed at Hotel Opera in Madrid? Is it worth the money? My husband wants a comfortable room, but I am worried that this is too fancy for my taste.

Have no idea. Our preferred hotel in Hotel Europa in Madrid -- four time in the past ten years.

II Castillas hotel, just off of the Gran Via. Newly renovated, good sized rooms and bathrooms. This has comfortable rooms for the price - not a cheap hotel with small musty rooms. We had a corner room with windows all the way around. The staff is great and the breakfast buffet includes everything you'll need to start the day. Check the web site.
