Question

How long would a flight be from Amsterdam to Italy? Where would be a decent safe place to stay for a single older woman in that area? Would I be able to take a cab or bus to see the tulip fields and windmills?

Hi Susan. I am 29 and went to Amsterdam by myself 2 years ago. I stayed at the Quentin Arrive Hotel in the Jordaan neighborhood. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the train station and the Jordaan is a very nice neighborhood; I never felt unsafe there, even at night.

I am single woman in her fifties and i traveled to Amsterdam alone and hod no problems. http://www.hotelbrouwer.nl/ This is where I stayed. I didn't see the tulips this time, but last time I did and I went to Keukenhof. It was lovely. It looks like there is a bus now. Check out their website. http://www.keukenhof.nl/ Pam

B&B Batavia, they have 2 rooms on the first floor of the owner's apartment, you share a common door for the single, but their apartment is upstairs and your door is right there. They bring breakfast at night (bread, cheese, meat, a big carton of OJ, and there's coffee and tea in room). The double room, slightly bigger, has it's own door. About 10 min. walk to Anne Frank house, in residential neighborhood, I felt very safe there.
