Long-term apartment rental in Paris?

We would like to stay in Paris for 1-2 months, visit the city and take day trips (or longer) out of the city. Does anyone have ideas on where to stay to be close to trains, etc.? Also, we are planning a December-January stay. Any advice on this?

Perhaps a good start would be Paris Vacation Apartments http://www.parisvacationapartments.com/ We are staying for 8 nights with them in October. Maybe they have options for 1-2 months or could refer you to someone. They are very helpful and responsive via email. It would be worth a shot!

As you will see if you search this website, there are many, many apartment-renting possibilities in Paris: vacationinparis.com, VRBO.com, rentparis.com for starters. And opinions will vary but the most popular and convenient areas are the Marais (4th arr.), 5th, 6th, and 7th. When I've stayed in Paris in the winter, the temperature has generally been in the 40s.

We rented our Paris apartment over New Year's from vrbo.com. If you rent directly from the owner there may be room for negotiation. The year we were there (08/09) it was unseasonably cold. The warmest it got was about 33 degrees. We stayed in the Latin Quarter (5th arrondismont). The apartment was located between 2 metro stations, so very well located. If you bring appropriate clothing for the weather you should be fine. Remember the daylight hours are very short that time of year.

Try sabbaticalhomes.com for long term rentals. It can be hit and miss but they have many rentals that don't show up on the usual sites like Homeaway, Homelidays, etc. Most locations in the city are going to be close to a Metro stop. Google Maps shows all Metro stops so if you input the address you will know exactly how far you will be from a stop.
